SACRAMENTO, CA - A security guard for a local bakery remains hospitalized after he was assaulted early Saturday morning, according to police.
Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong said the 43-year-old man was patrolling the grounds of the Sara Lee Bakery at 3231 6th Avenue around 2:28 a.m. when he was physically attacked by an unknown number of suspects who fled the scene.
The man was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, but was expected to survive.
Investigators were working to determine a motive for the assault and who the suspects might be. It was unclear whether or not surveillance video was taken of the incident.
