SACRAMENTO, CA- There's a lot of debate surrounding medical marijuana. Local dispensaries sell it to customers who have a prescription from a doctor. Now one cannabis club called "Canna Care," is turning to the airwaves to get their message out. The dispensary is running ads on local radio station K-HITS - 92.1 FM.
The ad doesn't say the words "marijuana" or "cannabis," but it's definitely implied
"There's no need to suffer in silence, Canna Care is here to help...If you're coping with chronic pain, arthritis, nausea, glaucoma or side effects from chemo, there are reliable alternatives."
Canna Care has been in business since 2005. The ad is a first here locally.
According to Canna Care Co-owner Bryan Davies it was the radio station's decision to keep any explicit mentions of marijuana out of the radio ad.
Even so, those who come to Canna Care say the radio ad underscores the need for medical pot dispensaries where patients get marijuana only with a prescription from a doctor.
"They are doing it right. There are nurses and doctors involved," said Lou Salazar who has been counting on medicinal marijuana for the past five years while he's been going through chemotherapy.
"I'm a breast cancer patient of seven years and I have fibromyalgia," said customer Rose Blea.
"It provides a safe environment," said Devin Brown, another patient. "I've been able to get the medicine legally thru the state and not feel like I'm doing something wrong."
