WASHINGTON (AP) -- White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says, as far as he knows, there are no more strategy sessions scheduled for President Obama's war council after Monday night's meeting.
That's being seen as a signal that the president is nearing a decision on a revamped war strategy for Afghanistan, including whether to send more troops.
But Gibbs said Obama will not announce any decisions before next week.
Obama first called together his national security team to begin crafting a new strategy in August. This latest session is the 10th to be held in the secure White House situation room. It's expected to focus on how and when any additional troops could be pulled back out of Afghanistan.
Commanding Gen. Stanley McChrystal has said more U.S. forces are needed and recommended about 40,000 additional troops.
