SACRAMENTO, CA - Authorities have made an arrest in a shooting that left a man dead inside of a residence on Medora Drive Friday night.

Jason Batalla, 24, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Saturday for his involvement in the fatal shooting of his 21-year-old roommate, said Sacramento County Sheriff's spokesman Tim Curran.

Batalla was booked into the Sacramento County jail for involuntary manslaughter after being questioned by deputies. He has since posted $30,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30.

Batalla was one of three men detained by deputies Friday night after the unidentified man was found lying on the floor, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, inside of a home on the 6700 block of Medora Drive around 7:15 p.m., said Curran. Paramedics arrived a short time later and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Curran said the three 24-year-old men were in the home at the time of the shooting. A shotgun was recovered at the scene. Two of the men lived at the home and the third was visiting that night.

Deputies were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and a possible motive. It was unclear what charges the men would face if arrested, Curran said.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department at (916) 874-5115.
