SACRAMENTO, CA - Authorities took a man into custody for questioning Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a man found on a lawn in front of a Sacramento home late Saturday, a Sacramento police spokesman said.
Officers detained Eugene Wells at the Shell gas station at Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Blvd. Tuesday afternoon, Sacramento Police Sgt. Norm Leong said. Leong said Wells was a "person of interest" in the murder of Shedrick Cotton Saturday night.
Cotton, 35, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died on the lawn of a home near 32nd Street and 16th Avenue just after 11 p.m. Saturday.
Leong said he had no information on a possible motive for the shooting and Wells, 35, was being questioned about the killing.
