SACRAMENTO, CA - A 35-year-old man was found shot to death on the front lawn of a residence Saturday evening, according to police.

Sacramento Police Department spokesman Konrad von Schoech said officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 32nd Street and 16th Avenue just after 11 p.m. A few minutes later, the department received another call of a body in front of a home.

Shedrick Cotton, 35, of Union City, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene, said von Shoech. Officers were told a loud party was going on in the same area when the shots were fired but it's unclear if anyone at the party is related to the shooting.

Investigators were working to identify the gunman and determine a possible motive.

Anyone with information about the homicide should contact the Sacramento Police Department at (916) 443-HELP or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information.
