SACRAMENTO, CA - A man was killed and four suspects were being sought in an early morning shooting across the street from Sacramento High School Thursday, according to authorities.
The shooting happened in a second floor apartment on the 3300 block of V Street just off Highway 50 around 8 a.m. Thursday, Sacramento police Sgt. Norm Leong said.
Officers found the 47-year-old victim with at least one gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Leong said investigators were searching for four possible suspects in the killing. The gunmen may have left the area in a car, but authorities were still working to determine whether a vehicle spotted at the time of the shooting was connected to the case.
The victim's name was not immediately released. A woman who told News10 she was the victim's sister said her brother Don Kirby lived alone and was the father to a young daughter.
The shooting happened directly across the street from the Sacramento High School football field. School officials determined the killing did not pose a danger to students and the campus was never locked down, Leong said.
