SACRAMENTO, CA - Charges have been filed against a Sacramento State student in the beating death of a fellow student, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.
Quran Jones is accused of killing his dormitory roommate Scott Hawkins with a baseball bat and brandishing a knife at Sacramento State police officers who responded to the disturbance on Oct. 21.
Jones faces one count of murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
Jones, who was shot and wounded by officers, remains at the UC Davis Medical Center in good condition.
