MODESTO, CA - Stanislaus County women in the final trimester of their pregnancies can receive the H1N1 vaccine this week and next -- and women in the second trimester are also eligible for that vaccine next week.
"Pregnant women are at high risk of complications from the flu virus. The other part is, infants for the first six months of life can't receive the vaccine," Stanislaus County Public Health official Julie Falkenstein said. "Our goal is to vaccinate Mom, so that when the baby is born, there's protection from the people around them."
The vaccines are available from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the county's health complex on Scenic Drive in Modesto. Women must have referrals from their doctors.
