SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento Kings forward Andres Nocioni was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol Thursday morning, according to a Sacramento police spokesman.
Sacramento officers stopped Nocioni at L and 9th Street after he was seen weaving within his lane early Thursday morning, according to Sacramento police Sgt. Norm Leong. Nocioni was booked in Sacramento County Jail at 3:26 a.m. and his bail was set at $1,482.
The officer noticed an odor of alcohol and conducted a field test before booking Nocioni on suspicion of driving under the influence.
After Kings practice Thursday, Kings Vice President Geoff Petrie said the organization was extremely disappointed in the poor judgment which led to the arrest.
"(Andres) has apologized to the organization and his teammates...This experience now becomes a life lesson learned the hard way," Petrie said. Petrie said the Kings would await the outcome of the judicial process and the NBA's decision on potential fines and or suspension.
Nocioni always spoke with reporters after practice, apologizing for his "disappointing and frustrating" actions.
"It was a huge mistake," Nocioni said. "I lost my reputation in just one day."
The arrest came hours after the Kings lost a home game to the Atlanta Hawks 113-105 on Wednesday night.
