SACRAMENTO, CA - He earned the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2002-03 season and to this day, remains one of the most popular members of the Sacramento Kings. Now retired, Bobby Jackson serves as a goodwill ambassador for the Kings and he appeared on Monday's Live_Online at 11 a.m. with News10's Sharon Ito.
Jackson said repeated injuries to his wrist and hand played a role in his decision to retire last month. He also said he was "out of a job," hadn't been picked up by another team and wasn't sure he wanted to wait until next year to see if anyone would sign him up.
While Jackson is retiring from the court, he'll still play an active role with the Kings as team ambassador. He will represent the Kings throughout the Sacramento region, making frequent community appearances and getting fans back into ARCO Arena.
He will also help Kings general manager Geoff Petrie in the scouting department, the toughest part of the job, Jackson told viewers, since he's new to scouting.
Jackson told viewers the Kings got off to a rough start with three losses on the road, but the team hopes to turn things around with tonight's home opener against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Jackson said he's keeping busy with his new job, spending more time with his five children and running the Bobby Jackson Foundation, founded after the death of his mother to breast cancer.
Here's what some viewers said to Jackson:
