
COLUMBIA, CA - Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office investigators say they have a person of interest they are looking for in the fatal shooting of a 57-year-old man found Monday.
Sheriff's deputies were called at 4:32 that afternoon to respond to a report there was an unconscious man at a home on Upper Quail Mine Road in the Columbia area, said Lt. Ken Diaz. Officers found Michael Keith Bates had been fatally shot, Diaz said.
Bates' family and acquaintanances were being interviewed, Diaz said. He did not identity the person of interest.
