ELK GROVE, CA - Elk Grove police captured two 15-year-olds suspected of robbing a liquor store Tuesday morning.

The Elk Grove Wine and Liquor at 9358 Elk Grove Florin Road was held up at gunpoint just after 11 a.m., according to Elk Grove Police Department spokesman Officer Christopher Trim. The store owner provided a description of the robbers and the car they used.

A license plate check of the getaway car, a white 1997 Lexus LS 400, revealed it had been stolen in a carjacking, said Trim. Officers located the abandoned car on the 8700 block of Elk Grove Boulevard and based on witness reports, began searching for the two robbers around a nearby creek. Trim said one of the youths was found on the 9500 block of Blarney Court and the second was discovered hiding in a garbage can outside a home on the 8700 block of Bray Vista Way.

Witnesses identified the teens as the robbers, Trim said. Officers recovered a loaded gun and three Airsoft BB guns from the stolen Lexus, he said.

Robbery detectives were working to determine if the youths were connected to three other recent robberies in ELk Grove and the surrounding area, Trim said.

The 15-year-olds are facing robbery and weapons charges, according to police. They were being booked into juvenile hall.
