SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - The Sacramento County Public Health Division Tuesday released its schedule of free H1N1 (swine) flu vaccination clinics.

The first one is set for Nov. 16 at Hiram Johnson High School, 6879 14th Avenue from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If residents can't make that date, there are plenty more.

Federal, state and local health officials have been urging Americans to get vaccinated against the virus which hit the U.S. in April and is considered widespread in 46 states, including California, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 1,000 deaths have been attributed to H1N1 virus, including 95 children.

The county plans to offer the half-day clinics into the middle of January.

Solano County

Health officials in Solano County will offer an H1N1 vaccination clinic Wednesday, Oct. 28. Medical personnel will administer the vaccine through the FluMist to patients between the ages of 2 and 49.

Pregnant women and people with chronic underlying health conditions like asthma, weakened immune systems and diabetes should not receive FluMist because it is a live virus.

The clinic will take place at Church of Christ at 165 Leisure Way, Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Health officials encourage people in high risk groups to attend and ask that others in generally good health to wait for later H1N1 flu clinics.

High Risk Groups Include:

  • Household and caregiver contacts of children younger than six-months-old (e.g. parents, siblings, and daycare providers).
  • Persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years.
  • People 25 to 34 who have medical conditions associated with higher risk influenza complications.
