SACRAMENTO, CA -  Sacramento authorities were investigating the gruesome discovery of two decomposing bodies in an apparent double homicide in south Sacramento, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Detectives spent Friday night investigating the disturbing scene at the Sacramento home in the area of Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard after neighbors reported a foul odor.

Sgt. Tim Curran said officers discovered a woman's body in a field near the home on 39th Avenue and 32nd Street. Later in the evening, the scene grew more disturbing when officers found a second body, stuffed in a garbage can inside the home.

Curran said an unidentified man allegedly wheeled a garbage can from the 5700 block of 39th Street, a short distance from the field, and dumped the woman's body. The man was contacted and taken in for questioning by detectives.

The discovery is being treated as a double homicide and the Sacramento County Coroner was working to identify the victims, Curran said.

A man who identified himself to News10 as the brother of the woman found dead said his sister Tammula Robbins had been missing since October 10. Tim Robbins believed the second body detectives found Friday night is that of his sister's boyfriend Shawn Cope.

Curran said both cans came from a home where Robbins' mother reported 10 days ago that her 23-year-old daughter and the daughter's 24-year-old boyfriend were missing.

Neighbors said the Robbins' mother had been in the area over the past several days passing out fliers in the search for her daughter.

"She found her daughter's purse in the house and a bloody pillow and blanket in the backyard, so she reported her missing and that's when all of the fliers began to go up," neighbor Ursula Yost said.
