WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congressional budget experts say the Senate Finance Committee's healthcare overhaul would cost $829 billion over 10 years.
The Congressional Budget Office also projects that the latest version of the Finance bill would cover 94 percent of Americans, excluding illegal immigrants.
The new cost estimate is good news for Democrats. The bill would be fully paid for through a mix of spending cuts and tax increases.
Release of the cost estimate means that Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus can call his committee together for a final vote on the bill, clearing the way for overhaul legislation to go to the full Senate.
