SAN FRANCISCO, CA- From parking to camping and admission, all of California's state parks will raise fees beginning next week. The increases should help the parks face the state budget cuts. Parks spokesman Roy Stearns says the increases will depend on the park and every one of the 279 state parks that collect fees will see increases, some more than doubling. Stearns also says even with the hikes, parks officials will still have to close at least 100 parks in the coming weeks to make up for a $14.2 million cut to its annual budget. The state has never closed its parks, even during the Depression. The fee increases are expected to only generate about $200,000 this year because the state parks' season already is winding down. But they are expected to bring in about $5 million over the next three years.
