PINECREST, CA - A 7-year-old boy missing since Saturday afternoon has been safely found in the Emigrant Wildnerness, according to authorities.
Tuolumne County Sheriff's spokesman A.J. Ford said Brian Hill, 7, was found unharmed and in good condition around 10 a.m. Sunday.
A search and rescue operation had been underway in the Emigrant Wilderness for Hill since he was last seen near Pinecrest Saturday.
Ford said Hill was on a camping trip with his family Saturday. While walking back to their campsite from fishing at Dutch Lake, Hill ran ahead of his family. When they arrived at the campgrounds, Hill was nowhere to be found, said Ford.
The family searched for Hill for several hours before calling authorities, Ford said. Tuolumne County Sheriff's deputies were notified at 5:48 p.m. and began a full ground search in the Emigrant Wilderness near Pinecrest for the missing boy.
Calaveras County search and rescue, U.S. Forest Service and California Highway Patrol officials assisted in the search.
