SACRAMENTO, CA - Some of the best films you've never heard of are playing over the next 10 days in Sacramento.
The 10th Annual Sacramento Film Festival kicked off Friday night at the Crest Theater. This year's festival features 130 independent films from around the world, including many from northern California.
The 2009 festival launched Friday at the Crest with a special screening of the locally-produced psychological thriller "Sensored."
The film stars a familiar face to television fans -- actor Robert Picardo, whose decades of credits include roles like the holographic Doctor on "Star Trek: Voyager" and Dr. Dick Richards on "China Beach."
Other features include short films in the 10 by 10 Challenge, forcing filmmakers to create a 10-minute film in only 10 days. The festival runs through August 2. A schedule of films and ticket information is available at the festival's Web site.
