SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento Kings took a big step toward rebuilding when they signed their #1 draft pick on Wednesday.

Tyreke Evans was the fourth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Evans, 19, who followed in the footsteps of this year's top NBA rookie Derrick Rose at Memphis, is 6 foot, 5 inches tall, weighs 205 pounds and described by draft experts as an intense, driven leader.

His nickname is Hugo, because he was born during Hurricane Hugo. Evans is known for his ability to get to the free throw line as well as his versatility and excellent ball-handling abilities.

While terms of the contract were not disclosed, the NBA has a rookie salary structure. Evans' will earn about $3.6 million over three years. The Kings will hold the option on whether to pick up the third season of the contract.
