LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The world-famous Getty Center art complex in Los Angeles was evacuating staff and visitors because of a nearby brush fire. Nearby Mount St. Mary's College also was being evacuated as a precaution.

Los Angeles firefighter Eric Scott said the fire has burned four to 10 acres of brush at Getty Center Drive above Sunset Boulevard.

Getty spokesman Ron Hartwig estimated 800 employees were working in the complex Wednesday. They're being told to leave along with an unknown number of visitors.

Mount St. Mary's spokeswoman Sarah Scopio said the fire is about a mile away from the campus. About 100 staff members and about 200 people attending a conference were being evacuated. Classes were not in session for the summer.

About 150 firefighters were battling the blaze along with three helicopters.

The Getty Center is perched on the brush-covered Santa Monica Mountains above the west side of Los Angeles.
