ELK GROVE, CA - A man in a stolen car crashed into a family's home early Saturday morning after leading police on a short pursuit.
The 44-year-old man identified as Cedrick McKenny, stole a white Lincoln Navigator from a Chevron gas station on Laguna Boulevard shortly after 4 a.m., said Elk Grove Police spokesman Chris Trim.
Police officers located McKenny in the stolen vehicle a short distance away from the gas station and commanded him to stop. McKenny ignored officers and sped away heading north on Franklin Boulevard, said Trim.
Officers said McKenny lost control of the SUV and crashed into a residence on the 4900 block of Summerbrook Way, causing major structure damage to the home. Trim said the residents inside were not harmed but have been displaced due to the extensive damage.
McKenny was taken into custody and booked on charges of stealing a vehicle, evading police officers and violating his parole.
