ELK GROVE, CA - A special gift was given to the third grade class at Elk Grove's Stone Lake Elementary School this week.
A U.S. flag that flew in Baghdad, Iraq, was dedicated to the school's students for sending 35 care packages to homesick soldiers.
The flag was flown home to be presented to the students and teachers in apprecation of the gifts. The soldiers presenting the flag had children at the school who helped contribute to the gift-giving effort.
The ceremony was held during a brief intermission in a school performance where the children sang songs of patriotism while dressed in full stars-and-stripes regalia.
Photojournalist Damien Espinoza paid a visit to the school and caught up with the soldiers.
