SACRAMENTO, CA -- After working out for several NBA teams, Davidson's Stephen Curry made Sacramento his final stop with only five days until the NBA Draft on Thursday.
"You wanna go somewhere that fits your style of play," said Curry. "Somewhere you can thrive if you get drafted, and Sacramento has a great situation, a chance to turn the team around last year and a new coach."
Kings new head coach Paul Westphal looked on as Curry drained several jump-shots during the 10-to-15 minute window the media was allowed to watch practice.
Curry, who is known as a scorer, played point guard his junior year at Davidson, where he averaged 28.6 points and 5.6 assists this past season. He believes he fits in nicely with the Kings current roster.
"With Kevin Martin in the back-court and (Francisco) Garcia, you got guys who have established themselves as scorers," said the 6 foot, 3 inch guard. "And if you bring in myself, and you have three guys like that, it would be a great threat with whoever gets the rebound and everyone starts running."
Curry is the son of former Charlotte Hornets sharpshooter and 16-year NBA veteran Dell Curry.
Patrick Mills, who played for St. Mary's in the Bay Area, also got a workout with the Kings Sunday.
The Australian native, who played in the Olympics, is projected as a mid-to-late first round pick. Mills realizing he upset basketball fans at St. Mary's by deciding to leave.
"Obviously, Northern California and the Bay Area is a little disappointed," said Mills. "But the decision for me to stay in the draft, it was tough, but...I feel like there is an opportunity for me to take."
