SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento Kings have shown head coach Kenny Natt the door.

Natt was promoted to the position a third of the way into last season when Reggie Theus was fired.

Under Natt's direction, the Kings compiled an 11 and 47 record. The club finished the 2008-2009 season at 17 and 65, the NBA's worst record.

"I do want to thank Kenny," said Geoff Petrie, Kings President of Basketball Operations. "I do enjoy working with him. He's a real professional and a good human being, and tried to do the job in the right way and approach it in the right way."

Previously, Natt was an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Utah Jazz. Drafted by the Pacers in 1980, he played for the Pacers, Utah Jazz and Kansas City Kings over three NBA seasons. He was also on six Continental Basketball Association teams.

The Kings have not announced a replacement. But Petrie said he would prefer a veteran head coach.

"That would be someone with a lot of experience in the NBA, number one. Number two, someone who has experience as a head coach in NBA," said Petrie. "And number three, somebody that has had some level of sucess at some point as a head coach in the NBA."

Sacramento will be looking for its fourth coach since Rick Adelman was fired in 2006 after taking the team to the post season eight straight years.

Assistant coaches Rex Kalamian, Jason Hamm, Randy Brown and Bubba Burrage were also let go.
