SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento Metro fire investigators arrested a man Thursday who they said intentionally started a fire inside a Rio Linda residential care facility, authorities said.

Fire units arrived at the Pinecrest Lodge at 505 M Street in Rio Linda around 3 p.m. Thursday to find a small fire burning inside the facility's living room, Sacramento Metro Fire Capt. Christian Pebbles said.

The blaze, which was contained to a foam-stuffed sofa and window blinds, was put under controlled by one fire sprinkler head.

Pebbles said if not for the facility's sprinkler system, the blaze could have easily grown quickly.

During interviews with witnesses, Metro fire investigators determined a man flicking matches at a resident in the living room started the fire.

The suspect, identified as Jason James Murray, was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and arson.

One resident of the care home suffered minor burns as a result of the suspect, Pebbles said.
