The program educates the public about ways to take advantage of financial resources, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit.

The event also includes information on coping with job loss, ways to take advantage of relief programs, and job resource centers.

"WE Connect" is spearheaded by Shriver. "37 million people in this country live below the poverty line, many are women and children. We can do better and there is help out there," said Shriver. "The goal of this program is to get government out of the halls and into the streets, onto the web."

Shriver spent the morning at a "WE Connect" event at the Sacramento Food Bank. She will also appear at a similar event in Stockton at the Dorothy Jones Community and Health Center, located at 2044 Fair Street from noon until 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The First Lady will end Tuesday with an appearance at a "WE Connect" event from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Unity Council in Oakland. It's located at 1900 Fruitvale Avenue, Suite 2A.

In support of the "WE Connect" tour, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has proclaimed February "'WE Connect' month."
