"Dia de Los Muertos," or "Day of the Dead," is a 2-day holiday with Mexican origins and is celebrated on Nov. 1 through Nov. 2. The holiday celebrates death and loved ones who have died.
Here are 3 events in the Sacramento area celebrating the "Day of the Dead":
On Saturday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 3 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.. on J Street between 20th and 21st streets. The huge celebration set up the block as a huge graveyard. There will be mask making, face painting and Mariachi music. Admission is free and food is available to purchase.
On Friday, Nov. 1 from 6 p.m. to midnight in Old Sacramento take part in the "Souls of the City" celebration. There will be Aztec dancers and a procession. Admission is free.
On Saturday, Nov. 2 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Brickhouse Gallery at 2837 36th St. Sacramento. Admission is free.
