VALLEJO, CA - A Vallejo elementary school was locked down Tuesday afternoon after police got reports of shots fired.
A Cal Fire crew working in an open field next to Wardlaw Elementary School, located at 1698 Oakwood St., reported seeing people shooting at an unknown target from an elevated position.
Vallejo Police Lt. Kenny Park said no one was injured because of the shooting.
When officers arrived at the scene, they requested the elementary school to be locked down as a precaution.
Solano County sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers helped police set up a perimeter and search for the shooters. Park said two teens that were seen running through the field were detained, and then released after investigators determined they weren't involved in the shooting.
After noon, law enforcement called off the search after the shooters were not found. The elementary school's lock down was also lifted.
Park said police do not have any other information in connection to the incident besides what witnesses told police.
