ROCKLIN, CA - An Auburn man who was what Rocklin police called a "walk-on" assistant track coach (not a staff member) at Rocklin High School is facing allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl at the school.
Police said they arrested 21-year-old Mark Richard Bevan early Tuesday morning. He was booked into Placer County Jail on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation, sexual penetration with a foreign object with a minor, contact with a minor with the intent for sex, arranging a meeting with a minor for sex and possession of obscene matter of a minor.
The detective investigating the allegations was told by the student she and Bevan had been in a sexual relationship for a month and the two had been sexting for longer. Bevan is accused of asking for and receiving photos of a sexual nature from the girl.
A person claiming to Bevan's mother said her son was arrested at their Auburn home Tuesday morning.
"I am sorry. I am not going to talk about it," his mother said. "This is between me and my family and we will have to do this the best we can."
She added her son "is a good boy."
Bevan's bail was set at $100,000.
