2 Sacramento elementary schools will not be closed

SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento school board members unanimously voted to spare two elementary schools at a meeting Thursday night.

Tahoe and Mark Twain elementary schools were removed from the initial list of 11 schools that were to be considered for closure at last month's school district meeting. Board member voted at Thursday night's meeting to keep the schools open.

Last month, the school board voted to close seven elementary schools because of under enrollment. The school district said Fruit Ridge, Washington, C.P. Huntington, Joseph Bonnheim, Mark Hopkins, C.B. Wire and Maple elementary schools operated at 56 percent.
