The Capital Christian Cougars won the Sac-Joaquin Section Championship at Sleep Train Arena on Friday night with a win over Stockton's Brookside Christian.
SACRAMENTO, CA - Tyler Jennings sunk a go-ahead free throw with 0.7 left to give the (2) Capital Christian Cougars the 40-39 victory over Stockton's (4) Brookside Christian Knights to win their second straight Sac-Joaquin Section Title.
Friday's D-V Boys Section Title victory at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento is also the second in Captial Christian's school history.
After connecting on the first free throw to give the Cougars the lead, Jennings intentionally missed the second attempt, rebounded by Brookside Christian. The Knights, with a timeout remaining had only 0.5 seconds left and a shot for the walk-off win from half-court fell short.
The Cougars (24-4) were led by Trey Belton and Uchenna Iroebgu, who both chipped in nine points.
