SACRAMENTO -  At Tuesday night's City Council meeting, a vote is expected that would give Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson the green light to negotiate with investors interested in building a new arena downtown.   An arena deal is needed in order to keep the Kings in Sacramento.

At the same time, this week, the Mayor is expected to reveal the names of his deep-pocket investors who have interest in purchasing the team and presenting a counter-offer to the NBA.  The Maloofs have already agreed to sell the team to a Seattle-based investor group.

Meanwhile, newly released documents reveal more about potential arena negotiations.  The documents indicate the downtown plaza could be the target location for a new arena, and that Sacramento might spend less than the original $250 million on the proposed complex.

The Mayor's self-imposed deadline to have a deal is Friday, which falls one day after his State of the City address.
