Sheldon holds off rival Pleasant Grove for League Title

ELK GROVE, CA - In a rivalry rematch of the Sacramento area's top two teams, the top-seeded Sheldon Huskies squeaked by the second-ranked Pleasant Grove Eagles 84-77, on Tuesday.

With the victory, the Huskies (21-5) remain undefeated to win the Delta River League title. The Eagles fall to 21-5 and pick up their second loss of league play.

Dakari Allen scored 27 points and Darin Johnson chipped in 23 points for Sheldon, and Cole Nordquist scored a game-high 31 points for Pleasant Grove.

Both teams are expected to meet for a third time in the Sac-Joaquin Section D-I Playoffs, set to begin Friday.

In the first meeting, Sheldon narrowly defeated the Eagles 84-79 on Jan. 25.
