Suspect arrested after being cornered inside Citrus Heights police perimeter

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - Police arrested a burglary suspect after trapping him inside of a perimeter in a north Citrus Heights neighborhood Friday night.

Citrus Heights police surrounded the area near the 7000 block of Roberts Drive where the suspect was hiding outside of a home where they arrested him after 10 p.m., police said.

The incident began when police disrupted a burglary in progress; the suspect ran from the scene and police followed.

Police said K9 units and a helicopter were called to the scene to assist.

Police cornered the suspect outside a residence on Roberts Drive. He told police he would start shooting if they tried to arrest him.

The suspect was locked inside the police perimeter as police wait him out; they feared he will starting shooting if they make a move on him.

Eventually, the suspect was subdued by police and taken into custody.
