STOCKTON, CA - The names of four people found dead in a murder-suicide Monday were released by Stockton police.
Killed were 57-year-old Jackie Arata, her 64-year-old sister Kathleen Arata and their aunt, 88-year-old Chizuko Kenishi. Detectives say the husband of Jackie Arata, 45-year-old Collin McGratten, shot them and then pulled the trigger on himself.
The shooting was related to a financial matter, detectives believe.
Police spokesman Officer Joe Silva said officers were first called to a home on the 400 block of N. Regent Street for a report of a person shot. The time was about 3:05 p.m.. At the residence, officers found Kathleen Arata shot dead.
As officers were beginning to gather information about a silver minivan witnessed driving away from the home, 911 calls started coming in about a shooting at O'Connor Woods, an elderly residential and skilled nursing facility at 3400 Wagner Heights Road in north Stockton.
That was where they found Kenishi, who lived there, mortally wounded from a gunshot, Silva said. She was transported to a local hospital but did not survive.
McGratten was also found in Kenishi's room. He was dead from a gunshot and there was a .38 caliber revolver near him.
Silva said officers searched McGratten's silver minivan in the facility's parking lot and discovered Jackie Arata rolled up in a tarp. She had been shot and was dead.
McGratten was a marriage counselor.
