Escaped inmate captured outside Woodland Starbucks

WOODLAND, CA - A team of Yolo County sheriff's deputies, Woodland police and California Highway Patrol officers assisted in a search for an inmate who escaped from the the Leinberger Center Friday morning.

According to the Sergeant Lance Faile of the Yolo County Sheriff's Department, a deputy saw Gabriel Eugene Weston scale the fence of the minimum-security facility during breakfast and then run away.

K9 officers, a CHP air unit and Woodland police officers were called in to assist in the search and retrieval effort.

Weston was eventually located hiding behind a dumpster outside a Starbucks coffee shop near Pioneer Ave. and E. Gibson Rd. around 7 a.m.  He was subsequently arrested and returned to the Leinberger Center.

Weston was originally jailed for possession of a stolen vehicle and obstructing, delaying a peace officer since October 16, 2012, said Faile.
