SACRAMENTO, CA - On Friday, two undefeated Elk Grove powerhouses will finally clash for the first time of the season.
Local rivalry-talk aside, Elk Grove High School and Franklin High School are easily two of the best teams in Sacramento; both topping the California North Region top 5 rankings from many major publications. These neighboring teams have explosive rushing offense, as well as hardened defense, making this matchup quite the treat for local football fans.
The (7-0) Franklin Wildcats are coming off a crushing victory over Davis last week, winning 72-7. As previously noted, the Wildcats have a rush-heavy offense with three players totaling over 400 yards per game.
Meanwhile, the (7-0) Elk Grove Thundering Herd had quite the game last week as well, blowing out Grant, 24-0. The Thundering Herd showcase one spectacular senior running back, Robert Frazier, who has rushed for 1097 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.
While the winner of Friday night's match is surely a toss-up, one team will go home with their first loss of the season. Likewise, the victor may have a chance of representing NorCal in a regional game leading to a state championship game.
The stakes have never been higher for these two teams this season, so make sure to tune into News10 at 11 p.m. to check out the highlights of Friday's Game of the Week.
