SACRAMENTO, CA - Two weeks after his son died, a Sacramento father now faces an additional charge of murder.
Eshawn Bonnard died Sept. 5 after lapsing into a coma following what a sheriff's spokesman said were severe internal injuries caused by blunt force trauma.
The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office originally charged the boy's father, Robert B. Bonnard, 31, with felony corporal punishment/injury to a child and felony endangerment of a child. Wednesday, prosecutors added the murder count and two additional child abuse counts.
According to the criminal complaint, Bonnard is accused of beating his son with a vacuum attachment in two incidents.
