BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - Zach Zenner ran for 197 yards and two touchdowns and South Dakota State held on to beat UC Davis 12-8 on Saturday.

Zenner, coming off a 278-yard game in a win at Southeastern Louisiana last week, carried 21 times and scored on runs of 61 and 23 yards against UC Davis. Both conversion attempts failed for the Jackrabbits (2-1) in their home opener. The 23-yard run came early in the fourth quarter for South Dakota State.

UC Davis (1-2) scored first on Jonathan Perkins' 69-yard interception return. Alex Cannon ran for a two-point conversion, but the Aggies' offense never got past South Dakota State's 25-yard line.

Both schools used to be members of the Great West Conference. UC Davis is in its first season in the Big Sky.
