YUBA COUNTY, CA - Yuba County sheriff's detectives have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection to the execution-style shooting of another man Thursday afternoon.
The dead man, whose identity has not been released pending notification of his relatives, was found with head trauma by someone walking in a remote area of the gold fields under Parks Bar Bridge about 3 p.m., according to sheriff's Lt. Shaun Smith.
A witness reported seeing a maroon Honda with oxidized paint in the area, Smith said. The witness further described the driver.
Investigators found the described car in the 7800 range of Highway 70 and obtained a search warrant. Very early Friday morning, Sheriff Steven Durfor said Joseph Aaron Martin of the Yuba County area was taken into custody and booked into Yuba County Jail on a murder charge.
The motive for the shooting was under investigation.
