SACRAMENTO, CA 5/22/2012 5 p.m.
TONIGHT: Winds will begin to calm overnight through early morning. Plan on mostly clear skies with evening temperatures in the 70s. Overnight lows will be in the middle 50s. Sierra lows will drop to the 30s.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny and seasonable with highs in the lower 80s for the valley. Winds will continue at 10-20mph, but gusts could reach over 25mph. The Sierra stays dry with highs near 60.
THURSDAY: Temperatures start to drop into the 70s for the valley as a low pressure system dives south out of the Gulf of Alaska. We'll see mostly sunny skies for the valley with clouds building for the Sierra. Mountain highs will be in the 50s.
FRIDAY: The cooling trend peaks with highs in the lower 70s for the valley. There's also a threat of rain showers Friday mainly in Sierra but the valley may also see a few showers. The cold air will drop Sierra highs to the 40s with possible snow showers above 8,000 feet.
THE WEEKEND: The unofficial last weekend of Spring may feel more like the beginning with continued unseasonably cool weather. Saturday highs will stay in the 70s with a slight chance of lingering showers for the Sierra. Warmer Sunday with highs in the low 80s. Sierra highs will be in the mid 60s.
