MODESTO, CA - Former Enochs High School teacher James Hooker was sentenced Wednesday for a sexual relationship he had with a 17-year-old girl in 1998.
On Monday, Hooker, 43, pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge of lewd and lascivious acts with a child. He will be on probation for 48 months and be required to register as a sex offender. Hooker was also given an 180-day suspended jail sentence, meaning he won't have to report to jail.
Hooker first became known last year when it was revealed he was in another relationship with an 18-year-old girl who was a former student of his. Hooker and Jordan Powers sat for television interviews, including on news10, to talk about their relationship.

It was seeing that coverage that prompted 32-year-old Michelle Miller to come forward and say that she, too, had a relationship with Hooker in 1998 when she was 17. They met at a conference in Florida. Miller said she agreed to end the relationship because she felt it would save Hooker's marriage. But when she saw Hooker in 2012 talking about yet another relationship with a former student, she called police.
Representing Miller in court Wednesday was nationally known attorney Gloria Allred. After court, Allred said it was important that Hooker be required to register as sex offender.
"Mr. Hooker, like many sexual predators, sensed the vulnerability and took advantage of it. He began the relationship even though he was married. Because she's (Miller) done the right thing, Mr. Hooker is recognized for the predator that he is," said Allred.
Miller had no comment and neither did Hooker or Powers, who has been at his side throughout most of the legal proceedings.
