Police respond to the scene of a crash and find a 20-year-old woman inside dead with a gunshot wound.
SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento police discovered a 20-year-old woman had been shot to death when the vehicle she was in crashed with another near the Sacramento Municipal Utility District building.
Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos said the accident occurred in the city of Sacramento at 65th and S streets Saturday at 3:15 a.m.
When police responded to the accident, they found the victim had been shot in the upper body and died at the scene, Ramos said.
The preliminary investigation suggested that the woman was a passenger in the vehicle when it was hit by gunfire at a different location in Sacramento County, Ramos said.
Sheriff's homicide detectives are looking at a possible connection to a call of gunshots fired on Watt Avenue in Arden-Arcade, Ramos said.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined and no suspect information was immediately available.
A man and woman who were also in the vehicle with the victim were detained for questioning; the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was also detained, Ramos said.
Ramos said none of those individuals were injured as a result of the collision.
