STOCKTON, CA - A man who died after being wounded in a drive-by shooting Sunday morning in central Stockton was identified as 21-year-old Eric Madison.
Madison was shot as he walked on E. Oak Street near N. American Street around 10:15 a.m., said Stockton police Joe Silva.
Detectives have released video they obtained of the area that shows a car they want to find in possible connection to the shooting. The car is a white, possibly 1990s Ford Thunderbird coupe or similar car with tinted windows. On tape the car is seen driving slowly in the area of the victim and then speeding up as it traveled east on Oak Street, Silva said.
The actual time of the car passing through was approximately one hour earlier than what the time stamp on the video (11:01:31 a.m. to 11:01:41 a.m.) shows, Silva said.
Citizens with information about the shooting or car were asked to call the Investigations Division of the Stockton Police Department at at (209) 937-8323 or Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600. Callers can remain anonymous.
Citizens may also text information from their cellphones to"''CRIMES' (274637) and type the keyword TIPSPD and then their tip or log on to the Stockton Police Department's Facebook page and click 'Submit A Tip'.
If you have any information that may lead to an arrest, Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward up to $1,000.
This shooting is Stockton's 68th homicide of the year. Last year, Stockton had 58 homicides.
