SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Multiple people were injured after a Light Rail train and a semi-truck crashed Saturday evening.
The crash happened around 6 p.m. on Light Rail tracks near 1200 North B Street, Sacramento police said.
Sacramento City Fire Department said 11 people were treated for injuries they sustained because of the crash; three people were transported to get treatment for minor to moderate injuries. The victims included the driver of the Light Rail and train passengers.
The driver of the semi-truck did not sustain any injuries.
The fire department said the crash was fairly slow impact and it could have been worse.
The semi-truck was loaded with almonds; the crash damaged the truck's trailer, causing the almonds to spill on the roadway.
It's unclear what lead to the crash; police and Light Rail crews responded to the scene and are investigating the cause.
