MODESTO, CA - A big rig hauling turkeys overturned on southbound Highway 99 in Modesto Tuesday morning, slowing traffic and leaving a feathery mess across the roadway.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred just south of Standiford Avenue around 2:34 a.m.
A CHP report indicated the right lane could remain closed through 8 a.m. due to cleanup efforts.
A CHP officer on scene said a majority of the turkeys survived.
