About 3:30 p.m., the hydrant was struck at Twelve Bridges Drive and E. Joiner Parkway. Firefighters on scene said the water was gushing out at 1,500 gallons a minute and they didn't have the proper tool to turn it off.

As of 4:11 p.m., water still poured out.

The driver of the car was not hurt.
