WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - As many as 25 homes were without power Thursday morning due to a black out caused by a car knocking down two power poles on Gregory Ave.
According to a West Sacramento police report, officers were called to the area around 3 a.m. for a reported traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers found a wrecked car and two power poles knocked over.
An initial investigation revealed the driver had veered off the road and hit the pole on the south side of the street, then crossed the roadway and smashed into a second pole on the north side.
Three people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, including the driver, 21-year-old Cody Zito, who was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, according to the report.
The three occupants only suffered minor injuries, the report stated.
PG&E said power could possibly be out through noon in the area.
