SACRAMENTO - Sequoia Jones, 22, of Sacramento was arrested Wednesday following an investigation of her involvement in the hit-and-run death of a motorcyclist on the Capital City Freeway Monday, said CHP spokeswoman Liz Dutton.
The accident occurred when the driver of a Volkswagen was negotiating through traffic and stuck 64-year-old Robert Wilson on his motorbike. Wilson was ejected into the number-two lane where an approaching Mitsubishi Eclipse struck him.
According to Dutton, the driver of the Mitsubishi and Volkswagen both initially stopped at the scene. But Dutton said the Volkswagen driver soon fled.
The Volkswagen was later found unoccupied on eastbound I-80 at Madison Ave.
During an ensuing investigation to find the driver of the Volkswagen, the CHP called Jones in for an interview. Dutton said she invoked her rights and refused to make a statement.
Jones was taken into custody thereafter and held on bail of $500,000. She was charged with felony hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
